The Ski Rack project came about unexpectedly when a photographer, familiar with our work on "The Shed Creative Workshop," reached out via TikTok with an opportunity to collaborate with Guru. The brief was to design a wooden item that reflected an authentic, outdoor-focused lifestyle. We proposed two ideas: a sleek ski touring rack for four pairs of skis and a minimalist bike rack for winter wall storage. The ski rack—the more challenging of the two—was chosen.

Over 14 days, we transformed repurposed wood from Montreal into a functional and stylish ski rack. As newcomers to woodworking, every step was a learning experience, from sourcing materials to crafting the final piece. The result was a one-of-a-kind product that married utility with aesthetic appeal.

In addition to building the rack, we edited multiple short content pieces in French and English, as well as a full-length video documenting the process for our YouTube channel. The content quickly became the top-performing video on Guru’s Instagram, demonstrating the project’s authentic connection with its audience. This success not only boosted the project’s impact but also reignited our passion for creativity, leading us back to the creative field full-time.
